ESET Security Review

ESET offers a variety of plans for Windows, macOS and Android. There’s a free version that offers basic security. The more expensive plans include features like parental controls, password management and data encryption. The most expensive package comes with gaming mode that prevents unauthorized access to the hardware of your computer while you play.

Installation is fast and simple. It doesn’t load your computer with unnecessary software, either. There are a few additional settings to fiddle with but the majority of tools and features are clearly identified on the left sidebar.

Connected Home monitor is a new feature that provides a visual representation of all devices that are connected to your network. It can be used to check your network for vulnerabilities such as open ports or weak passwords for routers.

A pop-up window appears each time you insert a USB device. You can decide to scan your drive immediately or set the program to do so automatically, and in the event you don’t want to do a full scan you can still perform an on-demand scan.

Advanced users will appreciate being able to customize what and how the suite is scanned. You can set the number of folders and files which the program should scan as well as specific items like networks and boot sectors. You can set the depth at which the program must scan archives if you would like to exclude certain types of data.
